Help me find the value of my 1958 Karmann Ghia Coupe

Post by CJA333 »

Have a 1958 Ghia with good body.. no nose damage, %90 complete. Good bumpers, good glass, small patches of rust in the rockers, and one in an air vent and there is some bondo on the headlight. 36hp engine only thing that I know isn't original is the 009 distributor.. (trying to get original on it). Have one, but needs rebuild. Car starts, drives and stops. Looking to get it licensed soon. Pans are bad(I have definitely driven worse though). Car sat for a number of years and water leaked in through the windshield seal and then rusted the pans.
Has all the interior, seats were redone probably in the 70's because of the style... headliner is in tact.
Still 6V. The front beam must have been replaced, or at least the suspension.. It is a ball joint front end with 4 bolt drums. I want to change that back to the 5 lug.
Brakes were done in the back %100. Fronts yet to be done, still holding up.

Here is a link to the page with some pics.

Will entertain offers, but I am really trying to get a grasp of the true value.
I have a rough 74 with a built 2276cc that hasn't seen the road yet... that I am not sure what I am going to do with either.
Thanks!

Location will help. A $800 CA car can be a $2000 New England ride which might be worth more or less than that in the UK
