For Jacobs lovers a little help please! hard to start , seems to run good when started. I set plug gap at 55 like it said on unit . Does not have gold plated batt. leads as some do just alum. forks
My alternative system is a canister jacobs coil and it fires right up! ... so is Scott around!?

make sure you are running 8.+ mm wires, interesting that its hard to start cause I know if you are under 200 rpm you get a huge spark boost. I would suggest pumping the gas peddle 2 times before you turn the key over. That is what I do and it starts like a charm every time.
also what kind of plugs are you using. I used what Jacobs suggested, autolite I don't remember the exact version number of plug right now
You don't want to use special plugs for example, platinum or special tipped plugs
check your voltages with a meter, maybe you aren't getting enough voltage when you are first cranking.

Had a hotsprk dist. in there , dropped in a point dist. and BANG! can feel the power! for some reason it has a hard time picking up electronic signal

Oh thats really wierd! I have a hotspark svda with electronic signal (no points) on mine to, but it works like a charm.
fyi: I am switching to EDIS sometime this year, maybe beginning of next. so I will have a Jacobs to sell.
