Could you take some pics how they look under the boot? I've never seen these before and would love to see how the eccentric bolt was actually done. By the way, did you know these were something special, not just "ordinary" type 4 ball joints?

411.412.165E is a part number for ball joint with eccentric bolt. This means you can adjust wheel alignment with these. These ball joints were originally ment for cars that had been in a seriuos accident and needed improved alignment possibilities. Type 4's need more positive caster and these ball joints will alow this. I'm sure Ray Greenwood has ideas what you can do with these

Odd....never seen or heard of them. I will look in my part number microfiche list. The only way I can think that they could work is by having the pin ground eccentric on the ball. They would have to have the stud held in exact position while the nut is tightened until the stud locks in the taper bore.....or.....the flange where the 3 mounting bolts is...is machined at an angle with the holes drilled to match to allow a bit more positiove castor. This is exactly the way i have understood it was done. But i'd still love to see how it was executed. I cannot remember where it was i heard about these ball joints but i got the idea it was done just the way Ray described.
A clip from my parts book:
