Very cool piece of history that engine!
Can you please tell us how you have your dry sump lines routed? I have the same pump I think?;

Re: 2.5 OKRASA WASSER
Steve, Hi and thanks,
my car may be less compromised than some as its a track car, so my lines run through the car fixed up on the tunnel off the floor, in case i fit a seat for track day work, the tank and coolers are in the front luggage area, they exit/ enter the pump and round the trans, then i use bulkhead fittings at the trans front cover metal area, the pump is ARPM, absolute jewel of a pump. i/ll see about some piccys when i can. best regards BBB..

My pump is also ARPM from the early 80s. Are you using the stock case oil pickup circuit for the scavenge section?
My question was concerning the pump plumbing, not so much where they are routed throughout the car.

Steve, i modified the pickup for the Okrasa, its shorter and angled to scavenge from somewhere near the sumplug area, i did this as the wasser sump is a sort of wedge shape, but its not that life or death, ive run them stock more often and they work just fine...Regards

Re: 2.5 OKRASA WASSER
Well I had a scare
Ive had oil foaming issues to deal with on the OKRASA 2.5 dry sump system, and in the process of addressing these, i broke a couple of rings on the 98's, frustration and really rushing things due to deadlines, i'd entered a race meet, and it was looking bleak for obtaining replacements, then a friend with trade connections in the states tried contacting Hastings piston rings and they came up with the goods
so there you have it, Hastings rings for 98mm Mahle pistons..

I always camfer the top of the cylinder bore slightly even if it is just fine sandpaper. I just installed a set of AA pistons in a type4 and the cylinders were very sharp at the top of the bore. They went in easily after doing this. Sometimes we're in too much of a hurry and overlook simple stuff , I'm glad you found rings, keep us posted.

Hi mate, its lifed at 7000 hours, longer than the car will survive me racing it, ...heres a later picture, its running great, a bit too cool, 80c on both oil and water mid race, i plan the turbo going back on it, so it will run hotter anyway..
here it is back in the mid '80s with rear mounted turbo, the intercooler was over the trans with fans for cooling it..

Re: 2.5 OKRASA WASSER
yes, you can program the desired temp, and the pump will only run fast enough to maintain that setting, you can pre set a run on time after engine shut down, the pump is worth 5hp or more over a belt system, lurkers please dont tell me they are unreliable by heresay, because i dont care, i'm in the real world and using the goods, but they do need a proper install orientation and will overspeed if airlocked.
