double relay run on

Ok, then. '77 westfalia, two liter with fuel injection.

What might cause the fuel pump to keep running in the run position. It isn't supposed to activate until the little arm in the afm is moved sideways. If I just turn the key to run the fuel pump is already runing. What could cause this?

Is this a new problem, or has it done it since you bought it? the contacts in the afm could be bent and always closed. Also some POs circumvent the whole double relay because they don't understand it

It happened when I put a brand new double relay in and then I put the one before it back in and it still does it.(keeps running with the key in the run position). I'm wondering what would cause that and if it is something to be concerned about (because its just wrong).

Can you read a wiring diagram fluently? If not, hook up a test light to ground, unplug the relay, and tell me the results on each wife and I can tell you if any are amiss

Does he fuel pump just run indefinetly or does it give a short run and urn back off?

Try checking the air flap as well. Just pull the intake boot off and try pushing the flap all the way shut and see if the relay kicks off.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

Local guy chimed in and said look in the place with the little wiper in the intake area.
Somehow the little bar on the right was bent so that it was touching the wiper. I bent it so that it didn't touch and , YAY!, the fuel pump stopped.
Bus runs starts and runs great with no driving issues. A pleasure to drive.

I love simple fixes.
