Custom Ghia bumper
I fabricated and welded up a front bumper for my Ghia. I added a tow bar just in case I need a tow home or if I want to flat tow it to the race track. I'll paint the bumper red and add turn signals and fog lights to jazz it up.

Nice work. How did you form the metal?

Re: Custom Ghia bumper
For the main tube I cut several small wedges and welded them together for the bends. a bit of Marglass and lots of sanding. To get the proper wedge shape I make pipe wrap-a-rounds. Something I learned in pipe welding class. I added a link than shows how to do it.Steve Arndt wrote:Nice work. How did you form the metal?

Superstar,
Neither of my browsers (IE and Opera) will let me see your photos (I get permission denied) but for some reason, on one day, it finally did, and you have come up with the coolest piece of bumper work I have ever seen.
Now I am back to permission denied.
You should make these bumpers and sell them. I am impressed.

2x on FJC, I think it would sell.
It's a very cool and clean bumper! Do you know the weight of it?
Perhaps a provision of an air dam below???
Thanks!

Thanks for the compliments. I will be making the air dam this week. The bumper isn't heavy, I'll weigh it when I take it off to make the air dam. I also just got in some really cool turnsignal light to install on the bumper.

Please do weigh it. I like it alot.
I think that a matching set would sell pretty well.

Re: Custom Ghia bumper
for the track...... definitely not, but you will definitely find out under heavy braking.
the airdam will apply a little self clearancing.
for the street, same self clearancing, just sooner

I like the bumper. The air dam abit overkill for a street car. Curious as to what you would sale them at, if you do?

I cut down the air dam 2" and it looks much better. Due to being married with children I have no spare time to make bumpers for sale. I still havent found time to finish my air dam.69satellite wrote:I like the bumper. The air dam abit overkill for a street car. Curious as to what you would sale them at, if you do?
