Hello all... I have a 1972 bus with a 1.7L type IV, problem is I had major amounts of white smoke coming out of exhaust, only after it is warmed up, no smoke at all while engine is cool. Took off muffler and found the inside soaked in oil. Question is, where would all that oil come from? Bad oil cooler, piston rings? Thank you for your time and imput.

No.. I disconnected brake vacuum hose to see if it was that, but no leaks. Wish it could of been that simple... Thank you for the effort.

Rings or valves, there is a possibility that it is coming through the crankcase ventilation. How much oil do you have in your engine?

A woven pot scrubber or two (depending on size) stuffed in the breather chimney makes a great oil separator.
A well configured PCV system can do wonders.
