Need Help Wiring the Quad Spark Module - COP wasted spark

Post by risk »

I need a little help wiring up the Quadspark module. I've done the necessary hardware mods to my MS2 board, added the resistors etc. I'm running bank to bank injection, ie: cyl 2 & 3 off injector channel 1, and cyl 1 & 4 off injector channel 2. I assume i would pair up my coils the same way?

Also, how do I wire up my VR sensor?

I'm using the Quadspark module from DIY Autotune, and CBR denso coils. 36-1 trigger wheel and bracket from CB Performance.

depends on the code verison, but if u have option in ignition settings for "wasted COP"
u should wire the quadspark to ms
A-A
B-B
C-C
D-D

then set the firing order
A=1
B=4
C=3
D=2

i would recomend Hall sensor instead of the VR for direct input to the MS.

DIY autotune has a nice Hall Geartooth sensor that works well with 36-1 style wheels.
i have just swapped the VR to a Hall as i struggeled a whole weekend with the VR sensor.

if u must run only 2 ignition outputs u should pair the coils 1+3 and 2+4

Okay thanks!, thats kind of what i was thinking... i assume that A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4 at the Quadspark.

I have a factory GM hall sensor i could swap my VR sensor for... How do i wire it up to the relay board?

I'm using Megasquirt 2 V3.0 with the latest version of MSextra code.

i can't read the cyl markings on the quad box, but i would actually ignore that.
since MS fires A-B-C-D
then it is up to the firing order which is 1-4-3-2

best would be to have some schematics on the hall sensor.
but it needs either a 5-12V supply voltage , ground , and then it has a signal output.

Okay i got it figured out... i think.

Megasquirt Ignition output 1 to Quadspark A & C inputs

Megasquirt Ignition output 2 to Quadspark B & D inputs

Quadspark outputs A to Cyl#1, B to Cyl#4, C to Cyl#3, D to Cyl#2

So i end up pairing cylinders 1 & 3, and 4 & 2

Just an update... Got the quadspark wired up right, and its working great! I think next time I'll just build the coil driver circuit myself, but if you don't have time and wanna pay a little more, the quadspark is nice.
