I read today that MSHP (Mark Stephens) just closed their doors. This was "through the grapevine" and I cannot confirm this.
Has anyone else heard a similar story?
MSHP is no more. Last weekend at Sac. Bug-o-rama I talked to the new owner of all the equipment that was owned by MSHP. West Coast Core bought the equipment and gave some of the employees a job running it. They can be reached at 661.726.9915 or 661.726.0151. FAT and European motors bought some of the stock, I believe.
This is the latest and most complete story I can put together. I will be ordering my never sent pistons from J&E most likely.
To all others taken by MSHP and Norm (the snake), If you find out any more, let the rest of the world know.
I guess I lucked out. A few months ago I was trying to get a hold on MSHP to place an order, but I only got an email stating that they are very busy, but they would call me back. Well I never heard from them, luckily since I would have maybe lost some money.
yes, it is true...and thank you so much to tom notch for posting that info on how to get in touch with west coast core!!! the guy there said that he thinks mark stephens is going to be filing for bankruptcy and they are going to try to help get people's money back. he is not actually taking over mark stephens high performance, but he said he did hire some of the employees that worked there...tom...you'll be happy to know that he did not hire NORM!! thank god for all of us. anyway, just for thoses of you who are interested, a guy named goerge called us and left a message letting us know that our heads were sent ou to us yesterday and he is sorry about the inconvenience and they were completed. NOW...the guy at west coast core told me that there was no one doing work over there so my heads are probably not done. If they have been worked on i imagine that they probably won't be quite the way i had imagined for 850 dollars, right?!! i am still going to try to get my money back...good luck to all of you who have been taken by MSHP.
WoW! What a surprise when I got home tonight. A package, rather large, setting on my front porch. Not expecting anything, I am somewhat curious. Check the label and its for me. Look at the return address and , hmmmmmm, Tahachapi ca., HMMMMMMMM! I heft it out to the garage and open it. And inside I find a set of PISTONS!!!!!! and a set of RINGS!!!!!! but wait there is MORE!!!
Insise the box stuffed full of packing popcorn is a SET OF HEADS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, A set of heads that matched the specs of what I originally oerdered. And the special bolts, and the sealing copper washers. and a note, not signed.
It basically said here's what you ordered but its the wrong pistons, these are 78's, wrong pin size and CAST. I still have to order the pistons. It went on to say sorry , keep the heads, etc. etc. We are out of biz.
No signature, no return address (except a shipping co.). An end and closure to a business and purchase. A grand gesture on somebody's part and I am almost a happy person.
Sounds like the people that purchased what's left of MSHP are really trying to make good on what Stephens didn't finish. I've heard that a few people hav gotten some "mysterious" packages!
Good for you and everyone else!
I bought 80% of my parts for my 2.0L porsche motor, including head work, from mshp 2 years ago and was very pleased. I then purchased Six stud pistons for the special price last year and had a promise to get the heads done when I got another set. Well I got my heads finally, but I guess now I'll have to pay to have them Modified. Who else does quality Type IV head work?
