They used to have rental bays, and paint prep/booths you could rent by the hour or day but between insurance not wanting to handle them... cheaply and ecology limitations a lot/most of them had to close down. Every so often I hear of on open... for a while.

There's one here in Plano, fellows trying to start up a chain...
...But the commute would be brutal.
I imagine Texas enviromental laws are a little more lax than Californias.
I still miss the "auto hobby shop" that was a typical part of USAF life.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

I have happy memories of the USAF auto hobby shop - it was one of the best places on some bases. I was stuck out in Iceland - no way would I want to work in the parking lot there!
There are very few of those types of shops available, due to environmental and insurance regulations, like Ol'fogasaurus said. The VW responds well to driveway work, if you're in a place where the climate isn't too hostile.
