At first, I thought I wanted to go turbo, but I'm wondering if I'd be better off just sticking with a larger engine. I mean, the car doesn't have to be scary fast, just perform well. I was looking at this.
This case is machined for use with 94mm pistons. Coupled with a mild stroke of 78mm, this should give me a displacement of 2165cc. Add a cam with good street torque (110/120????), dual 44mm Webers, ported big-valve heads, etc, etc. A full-flow oil system, small external oil filter and cooler and run 9:1 compression...
Maybe hit in the 135-150hp range??? Anyone have any suggestions?

if you're getting an aluminum case cut for 94's and a new crank you might as well go with 82mm crank. 82 cranks play well with b pistons and 5.4" rods. the new case is already clearanced for 82mm cranks and 82's don't cost more than 78's. That's how I did mine and it all just bolted together. yes, I checked everything, but didn't have to use tons of shims. I have full flow for oil filter, but haven't needed to put on an external cooler even with a turbo the stock cooler seems to be good enough. don't get a 30mm pump, get a 26.

So that 94 x 82 combo... that would be a 2276cc displacement I assume? Is that a reliable combo?

2276 is considered to be reliable, as long as you use reliable parts and build it right. you will get much better feedback if you start a build thread in one of the engine related forums, there is nothing special about the Ghia as far as engines go.
