Neat!
What advantage is this over the swivel bearing in the top of standard shocks?

A combination of adjustable caster or camber, better self centering and steering feel.

Well, the stock setup is only a thrust bearing and no adjustable camber ;)

this setup will have adjustable camber ( not sure about caster yet), a spherical bearing up top to take up the angle of the strut to the mount plate, then the spring seat will ride on the double ball bearing to provide the pivot from turning front wheels while steering (spherical bearings dont like lots of rotation, they'll wear out kinda quick)

hopefully I'll have a prototype made up before long to try out... got some more engineering to do on it first though ;)
