You will probably discover that simply installing a set of T1 rods is going to be a huge win...
Also available in other than 5.394" lengths, and in multiple styles, for less that the cost of having a set of rods rebuilt properly with new bushings and good bolts.

New bushings are quite thick (so they can be pressed in) and always have to be bored//reamed to size.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Hi thanks for the advice,
I have my own lathe, bridgeport, press etc so thought bushing would be most economical,
but I will consider you're suggestions
thanks JD

In that case the stock replacement WBX bushings might ream out OK, depending on ID.

Several folks have noticed that at least in the US, the 311 style 2.1L stock rods get oval badly at the big end by ~100K mikes.

Could be from sustained high RPM use, could be due to the heavier pistons--- not sure why, but have seen it myself.

CrMo rods (H or I beam) should not have the issue, ever.

Yes T-1 rods can be used, but the pin size on a WBX rod is 24mm and a bug style rod is 22mm. You CAN NOT ream a stock rod bushing to 24mm as the bushing will be to thin. The T-1 rod has to be bored to size that the bushing wall will be no less than .030 finished size IMO. This makes a lot of work to set the rods up bore them to size, make bushings with the correct press fit. Then bore ream or hone to fit the 24mm pins. Rocky

Sorry, after re reading the first post. I see now what Justin is wanting to do. What comp ratio will you get with no dish with flat top T-1 pistons? Rocky

I aim for 8.5 but as I bore out and bush the c/case (after machining flat) I can machine the bushes to any height I want to achieve the comp ratio I want,
but my question was what material do I use for the con rod bushes?
