Removing oil suction pipe.
What is the best way to remove the oil suction tube out of the case.

Re: Removing oil suction pipe.
Begin by taking the single bolt out that holds the pipe to the block.
The rest should be easy, ~wiggle and pull, it isn't in there that good.
If all else fails, pop out the exterior plug and drive the pickup out from there.
CAREFULLY study tencentlifes pickup mods, esp the part where/how the foamy oil recirculation gets blocked off.
IMHO the WBX//T5 needs a relocated pickup at the actual bottom of the sump and/or dry sumped.
There are good threads on that.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Hey pile would like to know if the t5 oiling system is superior to the t1 oiling system. Reason for me asking is on the t1 to improve the oil system some people do the Bob Hoove mod, would like to know if this is necessary on the t5 engine.

Re: Removing oil suction pipe.
No, the T5 oiling system, aside from the full flow filter setup and bigger sump, is more or less identical to the T1 system and can benefit from all Bob Hoovers HVX mods.
The only real difference is the oil bypass doesn't go back to the sump to degas, it loops back to the pump inlet...they got that brain damage from later T4 cases. Likely only a real issue on high RPM motors.

Re: Removing oil suction pipe.
for ~$110 CB/Schadeck if you are willing to do some work on it...
Bugpack and many others sell a "Manly" sized pump, but forget using a reasonably sized crank pulley with anything other than the CB.
The CB requires some work to the pump and to the case (or an external pressure relief) so the bypass oil goes back to the tank, rather than having to keep sucking it outta the sump.
Otherwise the 26mm scavenge pump may not be sufficient.
The inlet to the pressure stage also needs enlarged, and plugging a tiny internal passage and running a pump cover with an outlet will flow a lot better... although you have some options there.
I documented how I modded mine for T4 use: WBX use would be essentially identical.
(I'm still trying to get mine installed, it was set up for the 914. which is still off the road through no fault of its own)
