Just finished my turno build and cant quite get the tuning spot on. Hoping someone can offer a little insight. Engine is a stock 1600dp with high rev springs. Ignition is a locked out 009 at 24 degrees. Turbo is a t25 from a 2g dsm with the carbon seal. Carb is a 350cfm 2bbl holley with a percy adjust-a-jet, 6.5hg/in power valve that is boost referenced to the outlet port of the compressor housing. Boost is about 8-10psi. The carb is acting funny right now. Its not able to drive under 2000rpm, but as soon as it gets past that, the afr richens to 9.0-1 under boost. Ive tried turning the metering block screws out to richen the idle mixture, but it only seems to lean the mixture instead. Id i try to drive off boost, the afr goes super lean, and will not accelerate. Right now the best i could do was have the idle air mixture screws bottomed out. The adjust a jet is at 2 turns. Ive heard rumors that the idle mixture screws on some 350s will control air instead of fuel. Any help someone can offer would be great

Here is a reference for tuning Holley Carbs.
http://www.junkyardgenius.com/holley/tune01.html
Most carbs have a certain sequence you must follow to get them right.
I know a Solex 34 pict does.
I haven't messed with a Holley in 35 plus years and now a carb in almost 4 yrs. I don't miss it.
Since you are draw through you should concentrate on getting idle and cruise set first then work up into the boost.
You will only be on boost for a very short time if it is a street car.
Without idle and cruise set, adjusting WOT is meaningless.
That adjust a jet can make things confusing so make sure you have your idle circuit adjusted first.

Re: Need some help on my stock 1600 build
Went through that whole walkthrough, and nothing helped. I did notice that if i bottomed out the adjust a jet, that it will no longer idle, and will go lean and die. Tried adjusting the idle mixture screws while the mains were closed, and nothing changed. Its almost like im not even in the idle circuit, and just running off the mains, but the transfer slots arent even visible when i flipped the carb over. Nothing is really making any sense right now

Use compressed air or carb spray to verify that the transfer ports are clear.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Anyone know if these holes sre supposed to be in the main body? They are linked to the idle mixture screw passage, and go straight through.

Re: Need some help on my stock 1600 build
Well, i did a little research on the 2bbl ive been using, and it seems like its an old ford emissions model. So i bought a brandnew 350cfm 2bbl. Hopefully that solves all my problems

Re: Need some help on my stock 1600 build
Installed the new 350cfm 2bbl, and it is already running much better, and is tuneable now. The only thing is it still has a flat spot between 1/8 throttle and wot. All it does is spit and sputter when off boost. Runs great on boost bit is still a little rich. Sounds almost like detonation, but only does it when accelerating in 1st and 2nd. Any ideas what i can try? Im thinking of putting in a larger squirter. Maybe even run the 009 limited instead of locked out

I would try a little more accel squirt first.
