Small Tool Box

Thinking of making a small tool box for my rail...Where would you mount it/how big? Gonna be used for carrying a few tools and a tire repair kit.

Ammo cans work well, keep things dry and are easy to put a lock on and secure if needed/wanted.

Ditto on the ammo can (available at Costco, ebay, and Harbor Freight). It should be mounted where you have reasonably easy access. Another possibility in a rail are the round tube type storage bags that are available from many buggy parts suppliers that can be attached to the bars of the cage through hook-and-loop straps. I have a tool roll in one that I have strapped under the passenger seat.

Roll out toolbag, If you use a Ammo Can or other box bring a towel or something you can lay your tools out on.. IF you bolt it down plan on making a lot of trips back and forth so figure out a quick disconnect.

Ammo can behind my seat and a tool bag in front of the passenger seat. X2 on the roll up tool thingy...

The canvas military mechanics bags are nice. I like bags because you can squish them and make sure they don't rattle. If you use a can, be sure it is well stuffed (full).
