Show of hands- who runs without axle circlips?
I have heard over the years that the IRS axle circlips can be removed for a number of reasons. In my case, I had to grind off the ends of my axles as they were mushroomed preventing CV removal, and in the process, I sanded off the circlip grooves so the clips will not go back on. Is there anybody here that has experience in ditching the clips?

I run both ways. On the pre runner only have them on the trans side. On the 5 car I’m running both sides

I run them. A good safety device for a just-in-case awkward loading.

This was exactly my plan. Supposing the limit straps are right, no issues then with this for you?BajaBug222 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 18, 2019 8:28 am I run both ways. On the pre runner only have them on the trans side. On the 5 car I’m running both sides
Lee- I would much rather have them for sure, I guess my question was is this axle junk, or is there some life left- I'll give it a whirl I suppose. Thanks for the help!

I lost my contact lens so I am basically blind right now. From what little I can read my point would be that the axle can slide around with no C--clips and potential could slide out of one or both CV joints could slide out of jam on extreme suspension travel. I know guys who don't use them and have had no problems but then there is the opposite.

Then there is this option.
Keep the clips shorten the axle a little so that it is not beating itself to death on the flanges in the mid stroke and still be able to droop just as far before binding.

Not a bad idea. I’m running limiting straps. Next time I order axles I’ll go a different route. Not in a hurry to special order another set.

You can order CV's from Kartek now with this counter bore already done in the star. They have about 4 options if I remember right as to depth.

Do they go down any further before binding if you don't shorten the axles?CentralWAbaja wrote: ↑Sat Jan 19, 2019 11:40 am Then there is this option.

If I understand your question? Yes this process will allow for extra droop. Which is why I did it. I was having to shorten the axles more then I originally thought to clear at the mid point so I opted to bore the stars to get that extra range back with the shorter axles.STOICH wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 6:32 pmDo they go down any further before binding if you don't shorten the axles?CentralWAbaja wrote: ↑Sat Jan 19, 2019 11:40 am Then there is this option.
