Snap Ring to Crank issue

Hey guys,
Has anyone seen this before?
I have a new stroker crank with a CB straight cut gear, and can not get the Snap Ring to install. For some reason, and it looks like it is in the Crank, the gears will not go back far enough to leave room for the Snap ring.
With out a doubt, the gears are on as far as they will go. About HALF of the grove for the Ring is covered.

What cam drive gear is that? Due to it being aftermarket that's where I would start any measurements. Is the gear hard up against the main bearing journal?

The gear is a CB1399 rom CB Performance, and yes, it is seated all the way. After measuring the stock 69mm crank and then this 82mm crank, I found the slot for the snap ring to be 1/16th" difference. I will call Monday with my finding to discuss the fix. I think I could pull the gear and grind the back side, but that is not what I want to do.

Or you could machine a groove on the snap ring side. Enough to be able to get the snap ring in and out easily. Have you mocked it up with the cam to see if the gears line up?

Be careful about machining the gear as it may change the position of the dist drive gear in relation to the case/ dist drive shaft

I have a ~2002 made cb crank. Same problem. I had to have the gear surface ground down and clearance the spacer as I recall (been almost 20 years)
