I got this from someone I met at the old "buggytalk" forum before Leather invited me over here.
"...The Californians are back at it again. They want to close Pismo dunes altogether. They want to protect the birds (that always go where the people are) and the fish that no one has seen. and stop the riders from throwing dust in the air. theres no way that the riders are raising as much dust as the constant high winds that carry wind surfers up in the air. The fact is that they just used up the last piece of beach down there for a new hotel. And with millions of potential vacationers, the dunes would be a prime area for new hotels and homes. Most likely after they build them, they will do some kind of bird control to shoo them away."
Sounds like big business is trying to close things down again... for their profit. Sounds like someone needs to get their "hackles" up on this. It took over 20 years to get the enviros to admit that they were trying ruin the Oregon dunes for things that wouldn't work but did leave a lasting POS legacy when they planted the European Beach Grass here that is slowly taking over the dunes.
