Going under the knife
I just dropped my Fasty off to the body guy.
The body guy (Robert Johnson) comes highly recommended by people I know. He used to work for Jeremy Vreeman at Motorworks Restorations.
The car is actually not in bad shape. The PO left us some pan issues and the paint has some garage rash. So the body will come off the chassis and the pan will be sand blasted. That's when we'll get a true idea of what's what there. Robert says he can have the car in the paint booth in three months.
Fingers crossed.
Suddenly my barn has lots of room again.

This is what progress looks like. The body is off getting sand-blasted and should be back next week.
Needs a right pan. And likely the left as well.

You are starting with a lot better stuff than a lot have to play with. Good luck on what looks like a great build.

Well the governor just issued a stay at home order for Colorado. Looks like this project is on hold for the duration.

Arg! Trouble getting a new right pan half.
ISP is out of stock and KlassicFab can't get product in from South America.
Any other suppliers I am missing?

Re: Going under the knife
I just received a right side type-3 pan half from Classic Fab in Florida. They have disabled their on-line ordering for the moment and are only shipping on one day a week. I had them on the phone on Friday and got lucky. They took my info over the phone and FedEx just dropped it off.

Keep us posted.
Those KF pans are nice.
You can install them to 100% OG look if you grind/smooth the welds.
Seems that many shops could shelter-in-place at work.
Shut the doors, but keep working to help the dollars flow in.
Unless, of course, you were stuck needing parts/materials..
Aren't transportation-related businesses considered 'essential'(?)

I guess it depends on the state. Here in Colorado auto repair is considered essential and the shop Robert works out of is still operating. Not sure about Florida.
I am trying to get a right rear fender shipped from Washington. Joel Mitchell tells me his local Greyhound is closed. And I have been unable to raise the Greyhound here in Colorado Springs. It's a problem.

Pan is back from sand blasting. Very clean inside the tunnel. Robert is adding two fuel lines for my FI in the tunnel.
The body comes back from blasting on Friday. Fingers crossed.

Re: Going under the knife
Progress is slow. The main body is still not back from sand-blasting.
While the tunnel was open I decided to have a piece of conduit installed. The ECU and relay board will be located behind the rear seat back with the wiring passing through a grommet above the transmission. I will run the fuel pump wires from there up to the tank in that conduit. Of course we installed new lines for the fuel supply and return similar to the 68+ pans.

Re: Going under the knife
The body is back from sand-blasting. There's some work to do to say the least.
Rust in the usual places. Heater channels, package tray, engine deck. The rear apron is mangled and we already knew about the rear seat support. It seems likely this car had a rear-window leak. Surprisingly the A pillars are nice and solid.
Heater channels (including corners) are coming from ISP.
This isn't a restoration so we will probably fabricate a new seat support and possibly a rear deck. Tough to find good used of these. Might have a line on a package tray and apron but shipping large parts from CA to CO is expensive.
Our fab guy is really slow so we're trying not to make stuff if we can get savable used. Trading money for time.

Re: Going under the knife
Can you take a few more shots of that fan intake deflector vane?
my square lacks that. Looks like a good idea.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
