Snapped Case Stud!

Hi, I'm assembly my 2165 and have just attempted to torque the first of the heads down and, snap off came a stud!

I used Permatex reb thread locker on the thread when I assembled the studs so it's going to be next to impossible to get out!

Does anyone have experience in how I should remove the snapped thread? Should I use heat, some kind of pentetrating solvent?

Any advice is very welcome!

Thanks,

Craig

Loctite is designed to require heat to remove, its written on the package and should be considered the first step

Since there's a fair bit of thread sticking up I would weld a nut onto it, it'll heat the stud at the same time and make it easier to remove

If one snapped, I’d take a closer look at the rest. Maybe time for a new set.

I agree, if I had a stud snap when torqueing, I'd be super nervous...

Good idea. Fasteners do have life spans and you never know if someone, in the past, has overtightened one or all of the studs or bolts. Inspect all then act accordingly is a good idea most everywhere.
