Hello everybody , I have ran into an issue with my type 4 , too close to bottoming the springs . I tried some retainer and collet combinations to see if I get any luck . The ones that give the maximum travel are the cb chromoly ones (for single groove retainers ) with 3 groove chromoly retainers. Despite being the same degrees the single groove ones have a bigger hole (0.4mm) allowing the collets to sit a bit lower . That solves my coil bind issue , is it safe to run though? Chromoly retainers always have the collets a bit more sunk in them than original ones do
In the second picture a type 1 with chromoly retainers with their mated collets

That's sketchy. Use EMW's retainers. They're designed for OEM retainers, but allow more install height.

Take the valve out, add the retainer, and attach the keepers. Choke-up the retainer and check how the underside looks. If it doesn't hang out, you might be fine.
