Going from wasted spark to sequential

Post by UKLuke72 »

I have a MS2 v3.0 on my 2276
Currently running a ford coil without edis with two BIP373s

I'm looking at going for 4 of these coils
https://efi-parts.co.uk/product/coilpac ... n-ignitor/.

5.3.1.4 logic spark outputs, resistor method.

That's the section I've been reading, looks like I'll just need to add a few resistors to to the proto area to set that up.

Then for the cam sensor, looking to use a CB micro sync

5.2.14.2 Adding a cam sensor input - hall sensor.
Says it's for sensors that switch ground. It seems the micro sync output is 5-16v so I'm not sure that's right. I'll have to dig a but more.

Will that setup allow full sequential ignition with the option to fire the injectors sequentially at a later date?

Thanks guys.

I know this is an old thread, but you can also convert any dizzy that will fit in the hole, to a cam sensor. you can remove 3 magnets out of an electronic ignition kit, or grind 3 lobes off of the dizzy shaft and make rudimentary points set up. as for your actual question, I can't answer. sorry.

BTW Mr. Luke, I trying to decide on ITB size, and the calculators say I need roughly a 44mm throat, but after hearing what your results with your engine, I was wondering if you lost any top end power with your new 37mm ITB's? I have a set of vfr800 ITB's which also have 37mm throats, and the rest of the fixings, but I'm not sure if they will be able to breathe enough for this engine. engine will be a 2180 with cb2242 cam( 248 duration at .050), panchitos, and 6k rpm redline although I've seen dyno sheets with similar combos make max hp at 5300rpm and max tq at 4800 but then again I could change cam timing. Any thoughts on those ITB's would be awesome! thanks.

Hi chicken,

I think I've decided to stay wasted spark for now, the extra work and expense doesn't seem to be worthwhile.

WRT the ITBs.
Towards 7k I'm seeing the ITBs limit my engine I think. Through the rev range I'm right up around atmospheric but at the top end it drops from ~100kPa to mid 90s
I will log a few pulls with the filters removed though as they could be the restriction. They are far nicer behaved over my 45s I had before though.
Paul has made 170bhp on these 36mm ITBs, so if they are too small, it's only just... I don't know... I'm hoping to make 170-180bhp. I have an FK10 that is still pulling at my 7500rpm limiter so I expect with the smaller cam and displacement you would be fine.
