HI Guys, I have a 1911 ,the issue is it runs like the key is being switched on and off in quick succession . I've swopped the points and condenser for a new set.
I'm wondering if the 12 volt supply to the coil is shorting somehow. I can wire it from the battery as a test.

just put a test light on the power side of the coil when it's running . It'll show if there is intermittent power to the coil . check the rotor arm , they can burn out .
No matter where you go , there you are !

It turned out to be a faulty new distributor. Just swapped it for another used distributor and all is well. Spark must have have been jumping around inside the cap. I changed the condensor and points for another too.
