Baseline IDF Jetting

Post by allamaabroad »

I have a new build I've been working on that I'll likely be posting up once I get it running. The build itself has been a little crazy, and the vehicle that the engine is going in actually changed partway through from a Beetle to a Bus. I'm looking for advice on where to start on the carbs after I do the cam break in (Not planning on using the turbo during break in).
Build is a 2176cc (78.4x94)
CNC Panchitos
FK8 cam w/ 1.4's
Homebrew sidewinder turbo header
TD04-13T subaru turbo
Snow Performance W/M injection
Blowing through Dual 40 idfs, 32mm vents

All going into a '70 Baywindow

I'm planning on running no more than 10-12 psi.
I'm planning on ordering turbo emulsion tubes from CB, along with modulator rings and potentially larger venturies.
What's the basic guide on mod ring sizing?
I'm also curious, would I be better off going to 34mm vents?
I'm pretty well understand how to get jet sizing correct, and I have a jet reamer set, I'm just not sure where to start with venturis and mod rings.
Any advice is very appreciated.

I use 36 vents
32 mods
enlarged float bowl vent
standard E tubes.
With Blow through carbs you have to experiment , not all carbs work equally with the same mods.
I use FPR 014 fuel reg, these will take 88psi right down to 3psi.
Boost from 1 hat feeds boost to the fuel reg.
Boost from the other hat feeds the water/meth controller.
Put a barb fitting in 1 manifold under the carb blades for the boost gauge
Timing is a petronix billet set at 12 idle with 2 x 6 degree advance limiters to give 12 idle and 24 total.
You'll need a PLX AFR MONITOR or similar.
