T3/T4 ?

Post by John S. »

Is this a good turbo? It’s usually list for 1.6 and up applications. I’m starting with a 1600 and plan to go bigger cc, eventually. I guess in retrospect, the T3 is listed for 1.8 and up. Thanks

Mario ran a T3 with the smallest turbine made and could only manage 9 lbs. boost at 4800 rpm. It will be too big for a 1600 if it has a stock cam and lower rev range.
A T3/T4 is way too big.

I’m probably getting a k03 then. Just didn’t want to change the flange.

I just checked. My Saab turbo that I guess is a version of the T3 is .42 air/.48 exhaust side. Oh yeah, and I ported the heads some and it has a small CB cam.

If you have it you might as well try it.....let us know how it works for you....
I’m guessing boost pretty late in the rpm range....if you can rev it to 7000 you might get something out of it.

I think the Saab were a TB04 or something like that.

It’s called a TB0321. So whatever that means. The Saab was a 2.0
I added dual springs and 1.25 rockers, but have a stock crank.

Probably will. If I don’t bite the $100 bullet and get an Amazon K03. Should be a no brainer, but I’m feeling cheap. Lol

I had one of those on my car when it was drawthrough. It was ok but didn't spool as well as the Subaru turbo i replaced it with. I had a stock crank and hi rev single springs on stock rockers.
If your going to change the flange, i highly recommend a WRX turbo. They work super super good. Several of us here have/had them.

Anyone know who makes the inlet triangle flange for a K03? My resources are limited since I moved.

Im serious, like nobody makes these. I think some Austrian sites have them. That’s it. I have a text out to Locash John. He may have them stored for his cutter.
