Hey guys new to the shoptalk and I’ve just started my engine rebuild in my 1977 westy camper with fuel injection 2.0 and I’m just wondering if anyone knows if the blue heat stress marks on my crank and the location they are in are normal for a bus with over 100,000 miles on it and if it can be re used I have already mic every journal and it’s in spec even check the run out and it was also great I’m rebuilding the motor bc the camshaft was worn out. Just wondering if someone out there knows if this is normal

That's normal for a well-used bus crank.

See if those marks will polish out as per the build thread in my sig.

A good crank shop would likely give those a pro polish if they don't easily clean up.

And please measure the runout of the crank!I had to discard a crank after doing so!
