So I'm looking at a 1976 2.0L bus engine. Should be GD case unless it's European. Talking with the guy, says the pistons are "new-ish" and the heads are "Pretty good" as well as it has "a lot of crank end play"
This engine is gonna be made upright and squeezed into a Super Beetle.
The engine has all the Type 4 tins but no dizzy or any intake parts (it'll be converted to Dual Carb anyways)
So questions here are; is this even a good engine for upright conversions or am I wasting my time like I stated, seller says the heads and pistons are fine but the crank will need to be shimmed to .003".
And what's my best bet distrubutor? I don't have the biggest budget so I can't drop $500 on a rebuilt genuine Bosch.
Also how much horsepower were these rated at in the US? 2L porsches had almost 110HP but TheSamba technical page says 70HP, would upping the compression ration give a bit more oompf?
Quick edit to say I'm not looking for a performance engine, just something to make dailying my Super a little better! Not needing to squeeze every pony out of the engine.
