I realized my T-4 has has at least -300,000 miles

This is the same post I did on samba and seeing we are the T-4 guys it would be of interest !!

I went thru 3 speedometers and realized I actually did not know what my mileage was after 30 years of driving my bug. I built the engine in 1989 drove it daily for 21 years to Manhattan 70 miles a day round trip.

After the 21 years of driving to work, the other 9 was more of fun weekend drives and only from March to November.

To be fair it could be more mileages but not less then 300k. Never split the case or did a valve job.
I you know Manhattan Traffic 50% would be bumper to bumper and the rest 60mph. The joke is it can take you 30 mins or 2 hours. Not easy on the engine, including below freezing temps to above 90f, in snow and rain.

Today to check my math I went to some 912E and 914 sites and found I am not alone.

I give the credit to the cars being light and the engine hardly working.

That's awesome. I hope I can get that kind of longevity out of my 914. It's light too. 1700 lbs. I would be happy with half that many miles.
