Could anyone help me with this handmade car I brought it 5 years ago I've an elderly gentleman Who always wanted a corvette stingray.
All I know this is based on a Volkswagen type 4 car all the panels are made of steel and handmade.
Any idea on value for insurance reasons James thanks for any help.

That’s a crazy amount of work!
Is it a chassis & body construction or a monocoque?

Unfortunately, if it’s still in the UK it will almost certainly need to go through IVA approval, although if the hand made body conversion is old enough (& you can prove it!) there might be an exception rule.

And with him hand making this car and folding the steel its amazing.

If it’s still registered as a VW 411/412 then I’d not show the reg plate on the internet. The dvla do monitor and flag cars they don’t think are to “code” next time the V5 gets sent to them (change of owner or address etc) they call it in for inspection. If it break any rules they cancel the registration.

All I know is the man always wanted a Corvette but could never afford to buy one this is what his wife told me and his brother.
So he brought a Volkswagen type 4 fast back.
Stripped the shell of it and reconstructed this body.

It's been in my barn since I bought it 5 years ago It drove in there the body work is Immaculate and straight.
Apparently he only drove it on hot days then put it back in his garage. Sadly he passed away 15 years ago and it was left in the garage I then purchased it.
What sort of value would you suggest to put on this or have any ideas of anyone I could ask. Regards Justin
