Intercooler water radiator in wing?

Since it has gotten hot outside my intercooler water temp has been getting to the high 130's after a lot of driving.
Fortunately, MAT is less than 10 degrees above the water temp under boost and 3 to 4 degrees above during cruise.
To be fair, my design has the intercooler directly attached to the supercharger, so I am sure it is pulling heat from the supercharger case also.
The radiator is under the fiber front end way up front so it isn't getting good air and I do not have any extra room up there to move it.
Nor do I want to cut holes in the front end.
I have an RLR street wing and was wondering if anyone has placed a radiator or air to air intercooler in a wing?
If so, what is/was your thoughts on the airflow that location?
Would it be best to push up through it with fans or pull down through it?
I have a new wing still in the box (long story) so cutting the existing one up is not an issue if that would be a good location.
I would leave the existing radiator and install a secondary one in the wing plumbed after the existing one and then to the intercooler.

This is how Aj has his mounted. The wind has a cut out in the middle and the intercooler is mounted in this cut out.

I think I would put some temporary wind strings (fastened to the body at the forward end of each string) in the area shown then video what is going on at different speeds. I am not sure that the radiator laying that flat is going to work. I could be wrong but that is the reason for the wind strings.

This is fairly cheap to do but could stop some expensive costs if the radiator isn't getting the wind to cool things off.

Before you plumb in another radiator look into series or parallel radiator plumbing like in Porsches etc. Wonder if there will be a pressure loss or maybe an efficiency loss etc. Just something to think about. I think pulling air through the wing would be better.

I looked for tuft testing and found some pictures, but with the hole in the wing the airflow would be different.
I think I'll message Ron Lummis and see if he has any experience with this.

Suggestion" I think it would be a good idea to try the airflow test first, this way if you do have to buy something ($$$$) it could save you some glob nicks if there is more than one problem. Airflow on buggies and sand rails has been a problem for a long time. It can be as simple as seat positions or as bad as ????.

but this touches on air flow patterns but they are much more complicated than you see here.

To see what a person's head can do while sitting in a seat, a seat can do or the air flow going parallel to the ground when it's flow pattern is changed to roughly 90-degrees like going into and through a radiator laying flat (90 degrees to the airflow. One of the reasons for the cotton or strings showing the air flow patterns.

This is one of the problems I am working on in my Black Buggy especially since it isn't shaped like a Dune Buggy but more like a hot rod with wing style fenders (and then there is the airflow off the ocean :wink: :lol: ).

I was looking for some pictures of what I was doing on my black buggy and ran into this. I had forgot about seeing 2 of these commercial buggies several years ago. I haven't been able to talk to either of the owners for a while to see if this design is working for them.

The Manxster owners that run Subaru engines have a wing with a engine radiator and an intercooler installed. They do have fans on them but some have been through the NORRA 1000 multiple times.
Mike Dario has at least 4 finishes and three cross country trips for a combined mileage of IIRC 60,000 plus miles already. I'd say they must perform pretty well since a Subie motor sees up to 21 lbs. boost.

Over the years I have seen things like this done but usually they don't work or work well. It is the location of the assembly matched up to the airflow using cotton tails, figuring out the airflow.

When not doing that, the overheating is usually still there. The body's shape does have a lot to do with it.

Wally ran a 911 style rear wing/decklid with an intercooler in it on his 1303... cant recall if it was air-water or air-air. I'm pretty sure it works well... Think he still runs it. He's making ~450HP. He drives it to meets/drag days long distance.
