Greetings from Annapolis, MD.
I purchased my 2nd Beetle in May, which is a 1965 Java Green sunroof sedan. My 1st VW was a 1974 Sun Bug (non-Super Beetle that also had a sunroof).
My current Bug I picked up in Idaho and had a delusional idea to drive it back to Maryland via the Tetons, down to the plains, and back East. I got about 40 miles down the road, started having overheating issues, and ditched that idea in favor of transporting it back instead.
I'm starting to cobble together pieces to build a new engine and continue restoring it with the hopes of having it be almost a daily driver. I just need to separate what I actually need from what I "want".
The Sun Bug I bought from my older brother in 1987 for $400. It sat on blocks in my parents' carport just upriver from New Orleans for a couple of years. I got it back on the road and a year later moved to Colorado with it. I drove it in and around Colorado for 5 years before making some kid's day by selling it to him in 1992 for what I paid for it (and regretted giving it away for that pretty much ever since).
