Searching for information or main bearing guidance to fit an 88mm Wedgemate Crank and flywheel into an 2.1 WBX Case for a 4" bore engine build.
I have read many posts but nothing has clearly identified which bearing to use.
I'm sure we can figure it out, but if someone here has already done the exercise it would be great to follow their lead.
Otherwise, I'll start the conversation and hopefully compile the answer for anyone who considering fitting a Type 1 crank into a WBX crankcase.
Have access to and the skillset to do almost any crankcase machining that might be needed so shouldn't need to outsource help in that department.
Let's get the conversation started.

Better would be to have the WBX crank stroked to your needs so you can use a stock bolt-on flywheel.

Thanks for that suggestion Bruce2.
It would be great to do that and take advantage of having the matching sized and the Wesserboxer flange style flywheel, but I already have this 88mm Wedgemate crank, the Chevy rods, the case and a bunch of other parts I'm attempting to use in this build.
Have you built a Oxyboxer yourself?
Keen to hear any experiences you can share.
Cheers

Had a bit of luck regards main bearings and should be able to utilise genuine/standard VW crankcase bearings. No need to machine case, grind the crankshaft or modify bearings by other manufacturers or engines.
Rod bearing will be standard Chevrolet big ends.
Even found a rear main seal that should work without needing to fabricate any adaptor rings.
Will go do the assembly once these parts arrive from CSP, and if they work as expected we'll post all the part numbers we used.
Meanwhile, Hoover oil mods completed and clearancing for the 88mm stroke crank and Chev rods will commence.

Vapour blasted.
Does clean them up very well

WBX crankcase clearancing for it's 88mm Type 1 crankshaft has commenced
Will need 2-3 millimetres removed wherever the red ink marks the 'spot'

Love this project! I'd love to do a 4" Oxy some day!

A 4" Oxyboxer is a long time goal of mine too, more for the engineering challenges than 1/4 mile time or outright performance.
Still wanting it to run well/go well as a 'almost' daily driver and something to maybe take down and 1/8 or 1/4 mile track every now and then:)
Onto to cam selection next - JPM Raptor for sure, split duration probably, duration; yet to be determined.

Lifter bushing fabrication commenced.
We needed to reduce the bore size from Wesser/Type 4 24mm diameter to take the Type 1 0.750" (19mm) lifters and run the Type 1 camshaft.
Will be shrink/press fitted to the case halves with a 0.0015" (0.04mm) interference, Hoover oil modifications performed, then reamed to final size if required (although we're not expecting this).
Using Aluminium Bronze 954 for its hardness.
