I built a trike, and the shift cable and its coupling finally gave out after a decade. I have a 1973 Automatic Type 3 Transmission where I need the means to couple the shifter cable to the lever.

The broken part is shown below. I welcome any suggestions or recommendations on where to find this part, either just the broken shaft that includes one threaded and one fixed nut end, or an alternative custom fix.

Here is a part that I found online, but there is no way to attach the shift cable to the lever. I have also shown the setup of where the shifter cable meets the lever.
I appreciate any help you can provide.

Maybe just drill a hole through a grade 5.8 shoulder bolt and smooth the edges of the hole. Fairly sturdy, but I wouldn't want it harder than the cable end.

I fabricated mine ~as BugUgly suggested years ago, out of a spare grade 12.9 bolt from the place where lost bolts go.
Never gave trouble, but find a late vanagon trans, its essentially the same size (length etc) and a whole lot tougher.
(has a similar shift linkage, but its on the other side, also throttle position goes through a bellcrank which drives the modulator valve, no vacuum modulator) It's doable, worth it.

My 003 worked great until the R&P died, the 090 has 2 seals and a drain to outside in between for that shaft.
