Hey guys,
I have a 1999 4Runner V6 4x4. I am looking to explore TN/NC/WV/PA/GA/etc.
I am looking to build a rig and give to a shop, a capable off-roading machine. I was wondering, if you had the funds and were going long-travel, would you choose:
A. Put a 5.3 V8 and 4L80E into her. Giant Motorsports I-beams and cantilever in the rear. ~300+ hp, recovery tools, ~35" tires 17" beadlocks, maybe locker in the rear.
B. Undergo Bronco front frame TTB swap. Same rear. Keep the 5VZ and at most maybe put a TH350 behind her with the Gear Vendors overdrive kit if/when the A340F gives out.
Would the high hp 2WD be enough to "throttle it out" in sticky situations, or would you insist on 4WD for solo?
Silly question for you gorgeous people.

I would go ttb. Ive seen quite a few on 2nd gen Tacoma's and they are rad. if you do it right travel is comparable. I would say 4wd is worth having. If you do a v8 and big i beams most dudes are paring that with a better rear end and a spool not a locker. Ive seen a f150 with a radius arm and a bilstien 5100 keep up with most mid to long travel Toyota/Chevy kits.
