Hi Guys. To set the front beam adjusters so they are sprung equal . Is it better to set them without the stubs being fitted. So both top and bottom tubes have the same pre load.
I guess this would be a trial and error thing as in getting the ride height correct. .

I set them equal on my buggy. They eventually got a "staggered" setting allowing one to carry the load and the other to act like an overload.

OK thanks.
So been reading some views on here. I should of looked .
Gunna set the bottom tube Avis adjuster to the top. So highest setting
No shocks
Leave top adjuster loose.
Lower the trolly Jack.
Check height of car.
Adjust bottom Avis adjuster 1 click at a time to get the ride height I want
Jack car up a couple of inches , then tighten up the top Avis adjuster
Fit shocks.

Re: Setting front beam adjusters
On a full steel bodied car you almost certainly want both upper and lower springs sharing the load.
On a buggy or rail that's usually too stiff due to far less weight on front end.
I cheated and built coil overs.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

So to share the the load. Each adjuster needs to be set the same. Then fit the stub axles. Car is a speedster rep.

If light weight do like a buggy. At least you can try it both ways.

Re: Setting front beam adjusters
I've noticed the bottom beam adjusters need to be set so the long track rod doesn't come into contact with the top of the frame head . As I have it now the end track rod on the end of the long rod won't fully seat. If I wind down the nut , the long arm will bend.
So 1 or 2 clicks of the lower Avis adjuster will get me to a starting point . The top adjuster will be the last one to adjust. From what I've read on here the trailing arms need to be slightly angled down past horizontal, possibly horizontal to get good movement of the suspension.
