Hello,
Retired and live in Central Maine so I spend my winters in my heated garage restoring. A few years ago I did a complete restoration on a '72 Superglide that had been sitting axle deep in mud for 10 years, turned out beautiful but bad back and knees wouldn't let me keep it. Then picked up and did a total resto on an '88 Alfa Romero Spider that turned out great and is my my summer run around car. After I finished that I ran across this '67 Bug for a great price so that's my latest endeavor (I owned one back in the 70's)... It's complete but crusty. Pulled the body last winter and did a total on the chassis to include new pans, open/clean repair rust holes in frame head, and open the tunnel and rerun new lines, replaced the shifter bracket, and treated surface rust. Now that the chassis is good to go - am rebuilding the trans/suspension/brakes, etc so I can put her on 4 wheels to roll back and forth under the body as I replace heater channels and the bottom 3-4+" of every panel

Currently wrapping up the trans - finished both shafts with parts from Weddle's and getting ready to install in an old case I cut open as a jig to adjust the shift forks.

Like the info and suggestions off this forum and The Samba so I figured it was time to join.

And yes - already have replacement stock wheels as I am going for stock look with mechanical upgrades (came with an AS41 1600 DP which runs but will be rebuilding after the body is squared away)
