87 van with jerky throtel responce when hot

A friend of mine has a 87 Van that gets jerky throtel responce when it is hot. One day it will run great the next after a couple of hours it startes to jerk around whenever you move the accelerator. He has had a couple of people take a look at it but since it is fine after sitting for 10 min. it is a hard one to figure out. Has anyone out there had this problem? and how did you figure it out?
