1968 semi autos beetles got the first IRS suspensions, then in 1969 the US got IRS in all bugs.
In Europe and Australia, we got the semi-auto IRS in 68 (I have one) and the rest got the IRS in 1971 with the superbug introduction, so my other bug - a 1970 model, is a swing axle.
