Electric Windshield Wiper Fluid System

Years ago with my old Fastback, I just wandered through the wrecking yard until I found a pump that wasn't built into the tank. I think it was from a Toyota. I cut the stock VW rubber feed hose, stuck the pump inline, and ran a couple of wires. It only cost a few bucks.

I heard from somebody that most people are using powered windshield wiper fluid systems instead of the old tire thing. He said I could get the system from checkers or somewhere like that. Is this true? how much? And how do you guys suggest mounting and powering it?

Checkers?? Never head of it. Any way, So-Cal has them (look in the back of a Hot VWs.) Seems a good idea to me, better than using the air out of your spare tire (sorry to say this, but that was kinda stupid on vws part...) Just follow the directions on how to hook up. Your gonna have a 12v power supply wire, a ground, and a wire for the button. The dircetions should also have suggestions on where to put it. It should be pretty simple.

VW Mexico has been using electric washer tank for years, and theirs fit the Beetle well. You can get it at btlmex.com

JCWhitney has them also. I bought one there but have not installed it yet. Looks easy to do though.
