Blinker Help
I have 2 questions. First off, I have a 65 12 volt bug with shaved front turn signals and no turn signal switch. I bought a new switch. My problems are, what blinker relay should I get, 4 prong, 9 prong? and there are about 6 wires coming from the new switch. The wiring diag. I have seen only show three wires from the switch. Where do the different wires go once I get a relay? I plan on using the parking lights in the headlight buckets as my turn signals. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, bmc350

Blinker Help
Is it a VW turnsignal switch you are going to use?
If the switch has VW stock wiring then
black with white stripe wire
Left 1 front 1 rear
black with green stripe wire
right 1 front 1 rear
flashing power into switch at
49a = black with green and white stripes
just buy a 2 wire HD electronic 12v flasher unit from the auto parts places and hook a wire from one of the fuses that is switched ON with the key to + on flasher and
wire the other terminal to go to:
a. to 49a on turnsignal switch
b. and to the turnsignal light on dash
stock '65 didn't have a 4 way flasher
So you will not have a parking light with the turn signals mounted in headlight housings--?
have fun

Blinker Help
Thanks Hank, I really appreciate the info. That is a whole lot of help. As for a parking light, no I won't have one in front, just a headlight and hopefully a blinker if everything goes as planned. Again, thankyou so much...
