alternator tin

I have a 73 westy and the PO put an alternator with a fan on the pulley on it. Obviously I can't get the tin on it. Is there any way to seperate the pulley from the fan piece so I can get the original tin back on? Also, the tin underneath the cylinders(not directly) cannot be put on because the heat exchangers have been replaced with an alternative exhaust system. Is there any way I can remedy this other than using the stock exchangers(modify it until I get the $)? Thanks, Kevin
