Does anyone know the angles that a T4 CV joint can handle? From what I've read, they should handle more than T2 joints(19 degrees).I need at least 23 degrees. Also,I'm assuming that the splines are the same.Any thoughts?

I know just by looking at them that they are at a much sharper angle on a type 4 (maybe even as much as 20deg), but I am not sure they are physically different to T2 CV joints?

Yes they're different. They're 34mm wide vs 32,and have their own part number, but same OD as bus.I need a set of four!

Ah well you learn somthing every day!
I know they are same OD as bus as I replaced some CV boots on mine using bus boots. The type 4 boots are constructed slightly differently to allow for a sharper angle, so the bus boots wearnt ideal but they did work.

I have 5, yes 5!!, nos t4 boots for sale. How about $6 each plus shipping? These are the real thing and VERY rare. The T4 cvs, I think, are good for your 23 degrees, I had to use them on the short left side of my notch with the T4 auto equipped drive train and narrowed trailing arms, quite an angle but no bind at all. I'll try and figure out a way of measuring them. I did have the factory specs for them somewhere.
Hope this helps,

the guys to go to for drivetrain advice are at Transform down in Los Angeles. They usually put ads in Hot VWs. Their off-road experiences have supplied lots of data for CV issues.
