Hello

Well not an direct help but.

The 412 automatic was used in reversed direction on the Dasher Fox 4000 and even up to the 115 HP 5000. Basically you can upgrade partially to newer units.

The automatic is very solid as long you keep the oil changed. Don´t forget the differentialhousing is separate and has an SAE 90 content while the rest runs on ATF D.

Really?! That's a bit of trivia I wasn't aware of. I guess I will have to do some more investigation to find the details. Thanks.

I seem to recall it was a Borg-Warner unit like the typ III's had , no ? .

Parts are hard to find here in La-La Land .

Change fluid and keep on changing it untill it stays red & smells sweet .

Hello

Just make it simple and go to the next salvage yard and look at all Audi and dasher Automatics pre 1980. later units got several upgrades and faded away in 1988.
