Hey all you 411/412 owners, anyone have a parts car sitting around? I want to buy some spindles. I don't realy need the brake parts, just the spindles. I am in Wa. so the closer the better. Shipping is O.K. too.

I might know where a few Type 4s are in a wrecking yard. I don't know if there are any differences between the years/models, but let me know if you are interested and I can inquire to find out how much they want.

Yes I am interested, what area are we talking about? Shipping could get real high if your are far off. Thanks

Bry's Auto Wrecking (Seattle, 206.938.3868) has a couple of T4s, I believe, in his yard. Worth a call.

I have to be honest, I am wanting to put them on my 72 Super Beetle. I have been told that they are the same as the spindles used on supers with disk brakes, and if I get a set I could use them to put disks on the front of my 72. I have a type 3 with all of the other needed stuff. I did a little looking and it seems that the 411s steering arm is on the rear and the Supers is on the front. Unless I could get them real cheap it would not be worth the risk to try to swap sides. A complete kit with adapter brackets is only $170 and I can swap out any low quality stuff with the original german stuff I have. Thanks

How are you getting on with this, did it work?

I did a little checking and it would not be a direct bolt on swap. As I remember the steering arms are on the wrong side, and swaping spindles side to side would change the geometry, I think. So I have no spent the money to get spindles that may no work. If I run across a set for free or get a 411/412 parts car I may still try to do it.

Greetings! Just new to the Forum and the VW lifestyle. I have just purchased a 74 T4 4dr
sedan from my neighbor. It is a little rough
but it does run and everything works 'cept for the fuel guage. Testing shows it to be a bad sender. Anyone know if another sender like from a late Super Beetle will work?
Thanks.

I think that Type 3 ones are a similar design (float in cylinder arrangement).
All aircooled VW senders of that era (inc Super Beetles) have the same Ohm rating so you should be able to use one of those quite easily.
