This car (I'm not TOO fond of the chrome bits, but it looks damn good.), has caused me to rethink my desire for ONLY the sedan.

BTW, what would this Brasilia be classified as. It looks very type IV-eske. I'd love one of these.

Hey John,
First off, I have to know where you got that photo! That was the coolest looking Brasilia that I've ever seen. I knew it would look great customized, but I see someone else had the same idea.
Aside from the similar front sheetmetal, the Brasilia has nothing in common with the 411 and 412 models. I'd categorize the Brasilia as a Type 1, as it uses a Karmann Ghia floor pan, Type 1 ball joint beam, Type 1 swingaxle rear suspension, and Type 1 transaxle/engine.
Now just imagine a slightly larger version of that, 2-door fastback, with a built Type 4 engine. That's what I see myself building someday. Thanks for posting that pic. If you can get any more, preferably larger, I'd really like to get some copies.

Tuna, was the Brazilia sp-2 not type 4 powered? It also had that damn high front end stance. Ray

Ray, according to "Volkswagens of the World" by Simon Glen, the SP-2 came with a 1600cc Type 1 from the Variant. The pictures in his book seem to bear it out, though from one of the pics, it looks like the SP-2 got an alternator instead of the generator.

It's worth the price if you want to see VW cars that us Americans have never seen. Check out the Gol's air cooled engine with a Porsche style shroud, or the quirky "Country Buggy" from Australia.
