hello,
i need parts for my 1971 type 4, 411 , 4 door sedan. this is the list of things i need. i need bumpers, front grill, ignition, mirrors, and CARPET. if anybody can help. please leave a mesaage. i have slowly been trying to get this car to be in the best shape it can. she still runs good. but needs a face lift. the prevous owner did not even try to keep it in good condition. everything is orginal on it. and with this is orginally falling apart. so if you can help, let me know.

I have a 4 door 411 too, I am in the UK..

You will have to go round and visit all the local scrap yards, and VW breakers in your area to try and find spare parts for your car.

You might have to get the bumpers re-chromed and make some new carpets yourself though..

Try and find someone with another type 4 that may live near you to help you out...

You should all know about Cliff @ NotSoVintage Parts in So.Cal. , (818) 982-2444 I think his website is : www.notsovintageparts.com , he's a real typ IV nut and has found a junkyard that closed up , he bought all the parts he could fins and has them for sale . lots of crash parts and lenses etc.

He even has a 1969 411 with carbys on it - complete but a bit rough - rust free and for sale .

as a list:
Bumpers - if you can?t find ?em, try refinishing and straightening. An autobody shop can help with a referral if they can?t help you. Also see ?front and bumper? post.
Front grill ? what grill, the ones below the bumper?
Ignition ? visit bughaus.com, they are into 411?s. This might be a tough part. You can get the phone # on the site also.
Mirrors ? again, bughaus .com, they have new ones.
Carpet ? call a local car seat upholstery shop. They can make a reasonable replacement. They may even glue it down for ya?. Good luck, we all need to see more 411/ 412?s on the road.

New 411 mirrors? I would be amazed if that is true. They were a type 4 part only and unigue to the vehicle. Do you mean re-built/refinished? Or are they type 3 mirrors?....which are nice and fit fine but are not the same part. Ray
