All,
FYI EMPI's retractable seatbelt kit does not fit. The belts bolted directly into my 411, no problem, but if you're bigger than a Barbie doll, you won't fit. There's not enough belt material in the reel for the extra size of the vehicle! Crap! I was really looking forward to having these belts in my car.

EMPI\'s retractable seatbelts
Hi,
I had a similar problem with coloured Securon inertia reel seat belts I bought for my 412. This is partly due to regulations over how long the belt webbing is.
However, I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me (for free - nice one!) some extra long fitting irons for mounting the push button release catches that are mounted in the centre of the car.
I've also seen the original moutings adapted to act as the centre mount for more modern belts.
Hope that helps,
Neal

If you are looking for replacements for the original...The retractables from BMW 528 and most of the Audi 4000 and 5000 and even some sabbs will fit just fine. Get a vise or vice grips with soft jaws, pull the belt all the way our until you can see the pin in the slot. Put a thin screwdriver in it so the spring does not snap back and unwind,. Dig the cross pin out with needle nose pliers and remove the belt. Slip your old buckle harware onto the web...its tedious but works. Put the pin back in after sliding the belt back into the slot...and carefully let it retract to roll back up. You should have to drill one hole in the back plate to put the secong bolt end that mounts the locating plate with the spike on it...to the winder...other than that..it bolts right up. They are also made by the same manufacturer. I got mine with only 4 years of wear on them (60,000 miles) for a bout 10 bucks each. They work great. Ray
