\'73 412 tank removal?

Post by Jadewombat »

I found rust in the filter so the tank needs to come out. I have most of the suspension stuff out of the way and the two lower nuts that hold the tank in place. I also have all the breather lines undone, including the fill hose. The tank doesn't want to seem to drop yet though, I haven't forced it, but I am just thinking it is paint or something holding it in place, correct??

Hi' Jadewombat..

Did you remember the clamp on the top of the tank ?

It is under the little center lid.

MchAlf.

Aren't there two more nuts at the top of the tank? If I remember correctly, I think you have to pop out two metal plugs in the trunk to access them. Free advice: be gentle with your fuel tank sending unit, mine broke while I tried to clean it...one of the little wires inside snapped.
