Source for 411 CVs?????

Post by kn6f »

I'm using the CVs from a type IV station wagon (411?) in my '60 Double Cab. This is the one with the 2L type IV engine in it. I was driving the truck this weekend and a substancial clack-clack-clack has developed on the right side as I make right turns. Not wanting to wait until it breaks, I figure that I had better start looking for a replacement.

Any recommendations as to where to get replacements? I pulled the originals off of the wagon in a junk yard and put about 25K miles on them.

Thanks
Scott

Porsche 924/944 cv's are the same as type 4's and VW 181 (Thing). Check around with the import parts houses. You should be able to buy new German GKN (Lobro) joints for around $60.00, Brazilian are a little less. Or do the wrecking yard thing looking at 924's, there's a lot of them out there.

Have fun
